Training required to be a Rehabilitation Psychologist
In India, two courses are available that are approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

M.Phil (Rehabilitation Psychology): A two years full-time degree course with theory and practical. On completion of the course, s/he needs to apply to RCI as per the eligibility criteria, to be registered as a Rehabilitation Psychologist.

Post Graduate Diploma Rehabilitation Psychology (PGDRP) *: A one-year full-time diploma course with theory and practical.
* Important Note: It is important to note that until 2018, individuals who completed this course were eligible and registered as Rehabilitation Psychologist. From 2019, as per the revised rules and regulations of RCI, those who complete this course can apply to RCI to be registered as Rehabilitation Counselor.
At present, individuals who have successfully completed M.Phil (Rehabilitation Psychology) are eligible to be registered as a Rehabilitation Psychologist under RCI.

Licensing
One can pursue M.Phil Rehabilitation Psychology from RCI recognized institutions only. The list of institutions offering this course is available on the RCI website ( www.rehabcouncil.nic.in).
After applying to RCI and receiving the license with a registered number, one needs to renew their license every five years by attending CRE programs. A total of 100 points are required for the renewal of the license.
It is mandatory for an individual working in the field of disability to be registered and have a license from the Rehabilitation Council Of India.
